Windsor Classical Guitar Society is an informal group meeting twice a month for a couple of hours at Windsor Arts Centre. The group currently consists of a handful of intermediate-standard players who just enjoy playing together. We mainly play ensembles which, for us, means anything written for more than one guitar in pretty well any style. The occasional solo is, of course, welcome at the regular meetings and the group sometimes performs in public when the opportunity arises. The Arts Centre itself also affords the opportunity for anyone keen to perform in public. We are always happy for new players to join us on a regular or occasional basis. Absolute beginners would probably struggle unless taking lessons separately but even so, the group provides the kind of support you can only get from like-minded enthusiasts. Each player chips in a few pounds on the evening to cover the hire of the space: so the more players attend, the cheaper it becomes! The music comes either from a pool of publications formerly belonging to one of the group's founders or is just brought along by players to try. A typical evening consists of playing through 2 or 3 items of established repertoire and then working on something new.
The regular meetings are currently held on the second and fourth Wednesday of each month from 7:30 - 9:30pm (but the day could change in the future). Anyone interested is welcome to come along on the evening. Bring an instrument and give it a go!
